Grounded in Compassion, Curiosity, and Connection
Janeatt provides online counselling to individuals throughout Newfoundland & Labrador, Ontario, and across Canada.
Hi! I'm Janeatt!
As a client-centred practitioner, I believe in the power of collaboration. You know your experience better than anyone, and I rely on your expertise to understand what brings you to therapy, how your life has been impacted, and the goals you seek to achieve in our work together. In turn, you can count on me to provide a space where you feel safe, seen and heard.
You will find no judgement here! What you will find is compassion, empathy, curiosity, and maybe even a few reasons to smile!

My Therapeutic Approach
I believe therapy works best as a collaboration - a shared space built on trust, curiosity, and respect. Each human experience is unique, which means there’s no one-size-fits-all approach to therapy.
I take a person-centred, trauma-informed and integrative approach to therapy, which draws from several key theories and evidence-based therapeutic applications.
In much of my work, I lean toward an integration of Narrative Therapy and Internal Family Systems (IFS) Model.
These two modalities compliment each other beautifully: Narrative helps us explore and re-author the stories of our lives, uncovering hidden or limiting narratives and discovering alternative “truths”. IFS helps us understand and work with the different “parts” of our Self - acknowledging our multiplicity toward building inner harmony and self-leadership.
I also incorporate:
Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT)
Mindfulness-Based and Compassion-Based Therapy
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT)

My Personal Background
I come from a place of lived experience, having supported loved ones with mental health struggles — and navigating my own. Through this, I’ve learned how deeply healing compassion can be — for others and for ourselves.
Before becoming a therapist, I worked as a small business owner and non-profit manager in the arts and sports sectors. I also worked in sales and marketing with a software company before returning to school (…again!) in 2023. I continue to volunteer with local mental health and support organizations, and I bring that same spirit of community care into my therapeutic practice.
I am the proud momma of two amazing adults, and “puppy grandma” to their canine “kids”.
Outside of work, you can often find me practicing yoga, gardening, hiking, or foraging around the Avalon. I love crafting — crochet, textiles, jewelry, and DIY projects — and I have a soft spot for live local music and cozy moments with my Great Dane, Daisy.
